Love Is Kind

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. -Galatians 5:22-23

Think for a moment, who comes to mind when you hear the word "love"?

I'm sure your someone special is kind, loving, compassionate, gentle, long-suffering, caring, and respectful. Love is very wonderful, fulfilling, enriching, and satisfying. It can make your heart swell to overflowing joy. Love can make you feel as though you're  walking in the clouds. Having a special pet such as a dog or a cat can help us recognize unconditional love. If you have ever had to scold your pet for bad behavior, I'm sure you have witnessed first hand just how forgiving a pet can be. They want to please you and display their love continually. I have been amazed to watch my cats love and nurture each other. Taking tender care by bathing one another, cuddling to stay warm, and patiently sharing food from the same dish. It is so cute to observe such a display of affection coming forth from these animals. Even in the animal world, love seems to exists.

What do you do when love is difficult?

Have you ever had to love a difficult person? Maybe someone who doesn't share your values, morals, or perspective about life.

This can be painfully difficult; however, it can help you to experience a deeper level of what love truly is.

Love is... action. Love is... a choice. Love is...kind. Making a decision to walk in love can be one of the most heroic decisions you will ever make. Stretching you to go beyond your own thoughts, will, and emotions.

Loving those who love you is common. After all, it comes naturally. To love those who are undeserving, unlovable, antagonistic, and different is saintly. Finding forgiveness for faults compels us to extend the same.

Love as you have been loved.
